How does the estimating process for murals work?
I look at the space you would like painted, and discuss design ideas
with you. It is helpful if you have pictures from magazines or photos
of concepts you like. I use a combination of square footage, projected
painting time, and design complexity to estimate a price. Usually I
will complete a proposal for a design within two weeks.
How do I reserve a time on your schedule?
If you accept my proposal, I require a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of
the total price, in order to reserve the next available place on my
schedule. I am often booked three months in advance but timing will
depend on the size of your project.
How does the estimating process for faux finishes work?
At your home or business, we would discuss colors and choose a finish
style. The cost is based on complexity of the finish, and the square
footage. I usually complete a proposal in two weeks. If you accept my
proposal, I require a non-refundable deposit of 1/3 of the total
prices, in order to reserve the next available place on my schedule. I
will then create one or two sample boards of the finish we agree on,
and you approve the finish and colors before I begin the project.
Does a wall need a special finish for you to paint on?
For murals, the wall should be painted first with a low-sheen finish,
often known as “eggshell,” in an off-white color. You can do this
preparation yourself or I will prepare the wall for an additional
charge.
How long does a mural or accent painting last?
I apply two coats of an acrylic sealer to the completed project. It can
then be damp-washed, and is actually very durable. It should last
indefinitely, and I will, of course, provide care recommendations.
